When Maria had to ask for a seatbelt extender on a plane, she felt embarrassed and was determined to never repeat the experience again, and made some sensible changes after coming home from her holiday
Stay-at-home mum Maria Dwane had struggled with being overweight for years. It affected her self-esteem, her confidence and her health until the Limerick woman had enough.
Despite joining weight loss programmes in the past and not enjoying the plans, Maria felt like the Slimming World eating plan was a lot less restrictive and allowed her to still eat food she enjoys. “I found it much easier than other things I had tried through the years. With those, I lost maybe a stone or two but I put that and more back on in the end.”
On the other side of a nine-and-a- half stone weight loss, the 45-year- old’s health, mentally and physically, has completely transformed. It was only when she joined Slimming World that Maria had realised how much excess weight she was carrying around."
