Lorry driver receives 13-year sentence for failed £23 million cocaine smuggling bid
A lorry driver from Crowle near Scunthorpe has been handed a prison sentence of 13-and-a-half years for his involvement in an ambitious cocaine smuggling plot orchestrated by an organised crime group.
A thorough examination of his computers revealed incriminating searches for"helpful tips when dealing with police sniffer dogs" and"how to conceal drugs from drug-sniffing dogs." He pleaded guilty during his initial court appearance and faced sentencing at Grimsby Crown Court on Thursday, June 22. “Working with partners like Border Force and the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit we are determined to do all we can to target and disrupt the criminal groups involved in trafficking drugs into the UK.”
