Bill Kenwright described the Blackpool venue as 'probably my favourite theatre in the world' and presented various shows including Blood Brothers starring Linda Nolan

Linda Nolan, Sir Ian McKellen and bosses at Blackpool's Grand Theatre have paid moving tributes to 'producing icon' Bill Kenwright

The 64-year-old wrote: "I am absolutely shocked and devastated to hear about the passing of Bill Kenwright. He brought me into musical theatre and let me play the role of a lifetime, as Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers."RIP Bill, you will never be forgotten. My love, prayers and condolences go out to Jenny, Lucy, Adam and all his loved ones, at this painful and difficult time."

"Bill presented such iconic shows as Blood Brothers , And There Were None, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Dreamboats & Petticoats, Calendar Girls, Dreamboats and Miniskirts, 12 Angry Men, The Cat and the Canary, The Lady Vanishes, and recently Catch Me If You Can, starring Dallas star Patrick Duffy."

“Since then, I have admired the resilient way in which he encouraged theatre to thrive in London and in the regions. Whether it was yet another tour of that wonderful musical ‘Blood Brothers’ or sponsoring the Peter Hall Company in the classics.
