Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) responded to questions about what national security concerns he has regarding classified documents that were found at President Joe Biden’s personal residence in Delaware, noting he doesn't believe there's 'anything sinister' going on behind the scenes.

Sen. Lindsey Graham responded to questions about what national security concerns he has regarding classified documents that were found at President Joe Biden’s personal residence in Delaware, noting he doesn't believe there's"anything sinister" going on behind the scenes.

Graham maintained that the situation must be treated with equal urgency and concern as the classified materials found at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home last year, noting the two incidents should be approached in the same manner.“[I would ask] why did you do it, what were in the documents, how were they held, who had access to them,” Graham told reporters on Tuesday. “Look, I’ve known President Biden for a long time. I would be shocked if there’s anything sinister here.

Graham’s comments come as Biden faces intense scrutiny after classified documents were found at his private office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C., and his personal residence in Wilmington, Delaware. That criticism only intensified over the weekend after six more classified items were found in his Delaware home on Friday.

Biden now faces a slew of investigations into his handling of classified documents by the Department of Justice, as well as congressional Republicans. After reports emerged about the initial discovery in Biden’s think tank office, the president told reporters on Jan. 10 that he was “surprised” to learn any classified documents were there. However, it remains unclear when he was briefed on their existence.

Biden has also maintained that he does not know what information is contained within the documents, noting his lawyers have advised him not to ask.
