The government identifies eight hospitals across Metro Manila that will take part in the initial rollout of COVID-19 vaccines for minors with comorbidities.
The minor, as well as the parent or guardian, must give an informed consent and present a medical certificate as proof of the comorbidity.
The pilot vaccination will also be limited to eight hospitals in five Metro Manila cities, Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. said. Half of these hospitals are located in Quezon City.3. Philippine General Hospital Galvez added the initial vaccinations may be carried out by age group, with those aged 15 to 17 first in line, followed by those aged 12 to 14.
According to Vergeire, the pilot run of pediatric vaccination will allow monitoring of possible adverse reactions among immunocompromised minors. They will be given Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, the two brands with regulatory approval for minors. The government is allocating 60 million doses for adolescents or around 26 to 29 million people, Galvez said.
