Individuals who display the 'Z' symbol following the ban could be fined up to 900 euros ($971), while companies could face fines of 1,500 euros ($1,619).
The pro-Russia symbols were added to an existing law that banned symbols associated with Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Those who violate the ban could be punished by fines of up to 900 euros for an individual or 1,500 euros for a company.
Similar bans are in place in Latvia and Moldova, while other restrictive measures against the"Z" symbol exist in several other countries and local jurisdictions. In parts of Germany, using the letter to support Russia isLate last month, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba called for all countries to criminalize the letter as a symbol of support for the Russian invasion.
