This might make Monopoly bearable
With the diabolical summer weather showing no signs of easing many of us will be looking for new ways to amuse the kids that don't involve the outdoors. The struggle becomes even more real if you've gone on a summer holiday and find yourself in a caravan looking out of your windows at puddles.
That popularity doesn't necessarily mean that people will automatically want to play it though because it has a tendency to take hours to finish and, as a result, can lead to the odd argument. That might be because we've been reading the rules wrong though, with one particular rule slashing the time a game should take to play. That rule says that when someone lands on a vacant property they, as always, have the chance to buy it.
The full wording other rule is: "When you land on an unowned property you can buy that property from the Bank at its printed price. You receive the Title Deed card showing ownership. "Any player, including the one who declined the option to buy it at the printed price, may bid and bidding may start at any price."
