King Charles says the Queen is 'mourned most deeply'
This evening, King Charles III will make his first address to the nation as the new Monarch following the death of Queen Elizabeth. Tributes have been pouring in for the Queen who died yesterday after ruling for over 70 years.
King Charles III arrived at Balmoral yesterday along with Camilla, the new Queen Consort to be at his mother's side as she passed away. The pair stayed at Balmoral overnight before flying to London where Charles is expected to meet Prime Minister Liz Truss ahead ofKing Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort were seen arriving at Buckingham Palace earlier today, greeted by cheering crowds. The King spent time greeting those paying their respects to the Queen.
Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House of Commons, announced the King would be addressing the nation while paying tribute to Her Majesty. He said: "As the longest-serving monarch this country has known she would have been assured of a notable entry in our history books even if it were not for the magnificence in which she undertook the role as Queen.
"She was the most devoted monarch. As well as Queen, she was a wife, a mother, a grandmother and great grandmother - roles she carried out with the same sense of occasion and human kindness as the role of Queen."Jaimie KayThe King vowed that in "the remaining time God grants me" he would "uphold the institution".
