They have managed to increase honey production by 20%.
Avondale Community Beekeepers, based in South Lanarkshire, has been given a generous donation from Banks Renewables’ Kype Muir Wind Farm Community Fund .
Stewart Wilson, a member of the Avondale Beekeepers committee, said: “The new honey extractors have changed the game for us - not only can we now harvest more honey, it has saved us bags of time in the process. "For example, we can now reuse our frames season after season, making us far more eco-friendly across the board.
Each hive can house between 20,000 and 60,000 bees at any one time, and the group are aiming to prevent the decline of the honeybee, which is responsible for over half the pollination of crops and produce inKMCP member Robert Craig said: “It is excellent to see the sheer benefits that the KMCP fund can bring.
