The animated film Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, a prequel set 200 years before The Two Towers, tells the story of Helm Hammerhand and the origin of the fortress Helm's Deep. The film, which has been in development for years, is confirmed to be released during the Holiday 2024 window.

With Peter Jackson’s original trilogy being some of the most successful and beloved movies of all time, there’s been an understandable excitement building towards the release of The War of the Rohirrim.The movie was set for a release in April 2024, however, in August 2023, Warner Bros pushed back the release to December.
Japanese Anime director Kenji Kamiyama is set to direct the film, with a screenplay by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou, based on a story told in the appendices of the novel The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien.is also set to return to our screens later on in 2024, with a concrete release date not yet announced.
