Irish TV star Lorraine Keane has said women need to take control of their hormone health - especially if they are planning on having children.

"When I was in my teens, 20s and 30s, I thought a seven to 10 day period was normal. Then I got into my 40s and realised I was in perimenopause, I didn't even know what that was. I was really surprised and cross at myself to be honest. I am a journalist, I read a lot, I try to be educated on women's health... I realised we needed to develop that conversation."
