As we move into the winter months, there are some key insider methods to adding a glow that is more subtle than a summer suntan and helps upkeep that glow despite the cooler temperatures

Lottie Tomlinson, founder of the self-tanning company, Tanologist, is known for her incredible beauty looks with almost 5 million followers on Instagram who flock to her page in pursuit of tips and trick to enhance their routines.

However, as we move into the winter months, there are some key insider methods to adding a glow that is more subtle than a summer suntan.Lottie's advice involves preparation and making sure you get an even, all-over glow.Achieving a long-lasting tan starts well before you even pick up your tanning product.

Making sure you have a clean base to work from is essential for your tanning drops, mousses, or other self-tanners to do their best job. Start with exfoliating your skin to get the perfect surface without dead skin cells making your tan a patchy problem. Lottie says: "If you’re planning to shave, we’d recommend doing this before tan application, and while you don't need to moisturise your entire body, applying a thin layer of moisturiser to dry areas will prevent the tanning product from clinging to these spots and creating an unnatural appearance."Once you've achieved your desired tan, the key lies in maintaining it effectively. Keeping your skin hydrated is paramount.
