Coillte , the State-owned commercial forestry operator, is seeking an experienced adventure and leisure tourism operator to manage Lough Key Forest Park in Roscommon . This decision comes as part of a strategic development plan for the park, aiming to enhance recreational amenities and attract more visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the site.

Established in 2006 as a joint venture between Coillte and Roscommon County Council, Lough Key has become a popular tourist destination within Ireland's Hidden Heartlands, welcoming approximately 120,000 visitors annually. The park currently offers a diverse range of activities, including the Adventure Play Kingdom, Boda Borg puzzle-solving experience, kayaking, boating tours, orienteering, walking and cycling trails, high ropes, ziplining, a visitor center, cafe, caravan and camping park, and a Waterways Ireland marina connected to the Shannon-Erne Waterway. Its rich history is also celebrated through the Rockingham Remembered Tour, which guides visitors through underground tunnels, the Moylurg viewing tower, and a contemporary tree canopy walk.Funding for the Lough Key Sustainable Development Plan has been secured from the Government and the European Union through the EU Just Transition Fund. Agents Willie Norse and Hannah Dowling of TWM, representing Coillte, are inviting expressions of interest from qualified adventure and leisure tourism operators to take over the site. Daithí de Forge, head of recreation with Coillte, expressed enthusiasm for working with established operators to deliver world-class leisure experiences at the park
