Louise is a key player in Vera Pauw's World Cup squad

She has also enjoyed major success with top clubs including Arsenal and Birmingham City. Here is all you need to know about her:

Club career Louise played on the girl's team of Wicklow's Lakeside FC and went on to join Peamount United in 2004 where she enjoyed success such as qualifying for the last 32 of the UEFA Women's Champion League in 2011 and captaining the team to the inaugural Women's National League Championship in 2012.

Ireland career Louise is one of Ireland's most celebrated players. She joined the senior team in 2008, having played for the country at youth level, and earned her 100th cap last November in an International Friendly against Morocco, where she also scored. Qualifying for a major tournament wearing the Ireland jersey means the world to Louise, and only realised the enormous significance of a World Cup a few days before jetting off to Australia.

“We’ve been talking about this all along, but now it’s really confirmed. It hit me. We were just getting the dinner ready and chatting, ‘We’ll do this after the World Cup’. It was really bizarre, a really emotional moment, and I didn’t think that was going to happen.”Are Louise Quinn and Lucy Quinn related? Lucy Quinn is Louise's fellow teammate - for both Ireland and Birmingham City - but they are not related.
