Actor John Connors has confirmed that the iconic Irish TV series Love/Hate will be making a comeback. The news comes after a resurgence in popularity for the show, which was re-aired on RTÉ during lockdown and became available on streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Connors, known for his role as Patrick Ward on the series, revealed the news on Virgin Media's Six O'Clock show, stating that production is set to begin this year with a release expected in 2026.

Love/Hate was introduced to a new audience in 2020 when RTÉ began airing it in lockdown and all the seasons were uploaded to RTÉ Player, and was also released on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, and fans have been crying out for the show to make a comeback.

Presenter Brian Dowling asked the Darndale native if the show would return, and John had an exciting reply. “I said I’d do it just to meet the Love/Hate director. When I got there he said ‘there’s a couple of lines here, who wants it?’ and I said ‘me’ straight away. “It’s gone. It finished and that is it - it is never coming back. It is over for good,” he told the Irish Daily Mirror at the time.
