Love, Victor boss explains character's absence in season 3
was created. He returned for narration and cameos in the series.it was time for Victor Salazar to say goodbye to mentor Simon Spier for good at the end of season 2.The producers felt that Victor no longer needed a mentor in Simon, who had spent two seasons helping Victor navigate his sexuality.
Producer Brian Tanen said:"As the show grew, it really became fully Victor's story and he became someone who sort of had gone from someone who needed a mentor to someone who could, kind of, be a mentor himself." Co-creator Isaac Aptaker explained how the farewell seemed like a natural progression for a character who had outgrown his need for a confidant in Simon after finding real-life friends to confide in.
“And it's this really beautiful goodbye of like, ‘I don't need you anymore, because you've helped me find all these people who now know who I am, and can support me for who I am, and so I'm going to talk to them instead of you,’ Aptaker said of the character's development.
