Despite attracting interest from Porsche, LucasAuer1 will remain with Mercedes in 2023 after finishing second in this year's DTM season.
Auer’s future has been subject to much speculation with his existing contract with Mercedes expiring at the end of the calendar year.
However, on the back of his most successful season in the DTM in which he narrowly missed out on the title to BMW’s, Auer has inked a new deal with Mercedes to extend his stay with the Stuttgart-based marque. "I am very pleased that we have come to an agreement again after two successful years and that we will continue to walk our path together,” said Auer.
After a brief foray in Japan with Red Bull to compete in Super Formula, the Austrian driver returned to the DTM in 2020 with BMW and helped the manufacturer score a race victory in an otherwise difficult season.
