The nurse had denied seven counts of murder and 15 counts of attempted murder

Lucy Letby is due to be sentenced at Manchester Crown Square Crown Court today, having been found guilty of the murder of seven babies and attempting to kill a further six newborns.

Among the young lives she took between June 2015 and June 2016 were two boys from a set of triplets, while she also attacked three separate pairs of twins. The "cold, calculated, cruel and relentless" child killer was said to have trawled through the Facebook profiles of her victims' parents in order to revel in the devastation she had caused.

Letby was found guilty of seven counts of murder and seven of attempted murder, including two attempts on one baby. She was cleared of two further counts of attempted murder, while the jury were unable to reach verdicts on seven charges.Nurse Lucy Letby "brainwashed" her colleagues at the Countess of Chester Hospital into thinking nothing sinister was happening at the neonatal unit.

"That's the narrative she peddled and she was very skilled in brainwashing everybody in this sort of propaganda tactic that she was pursuing the whole time - 'don't question what's happening, this is all normal, there is an explanation for everything, there is an element of fate'.

Allitt, 54, targeted 13 victims during a 59-day spree which saw her kill four babies and poison nine others at Grantham and Kesteven Hospital, Lincolnshire, in 1991. Letby, 33, gave rescue breaths to the youngster, Child M, after she responded to his cot monitor alarm. The couple said they felt "very, very let down" by bosses at the Countess of Chester Hospital who were first made aware of concerns over Letby after the deaths of three infants in a fortnight in June 2015.

A similar lab result for another of Letby's infant victims, Child F, was also not passed on to his parents in August 2015 and his twin brother, Child E, was also, fatally, injected with air.Ellen KirwinDetectives are continuing to review the care of some 4,000 babies admitted to hospital while Lucy Letby was working as a neonatal nurse.

Trial judge Mr Justice Goss told jurors they have did not have to be sure of the motive or motives for deliberately harming a baby.
