Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has continued his stellar start to the season with a crucial goal for Colombia during their World Cup qualifier vs Peru overnight. Diaz was the hero last weekend for the Reds as he capitalised on two mistakes by Casemiro to set Arne Slot's side on their way to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Manchester United. That brace came after he bagged a goal and assist in the victory over Brentford a week prior.
His form at the beginning of the campaign constitutes an excellent start to what is an important season for the winger. Last term, the 27-year-old managed to accumulate just eight goals and five assists for the Reds and there was talk before the season began about whether his time was drawing to a close at Anfield already. However, he has managed to silence those critics so far and the focus is now shifting towards extending his stay on Merseyside.
