The Honduran winger sought the advice of a former Parkhead hero as he closes in on a move to Celtic
The 23-year-old has been the name on every Hoops supporter's lips after it emerged Brendan Rodgers had targeted the wide man for a £3.5million swoop, but reports suggested the Glasgow side had to up their offer to Palma. Now Aris have agreed the winger's exit for the initial fee touted according to the Mail Online after Palma sought the advice of former Parkhead star and fellow countryman Emilio Izaguirre.
Palma will likely become Celtic's seventh summer signing as the champions saw off interest from Anderlecht and Watford, with the youngster also the subject of Saudi Arabia clubs tracking him. But Palma will provide a replacement for Jota who left for the Middle East last month, and it was Izaguirre who played a vital role in helping the deal progress after the attacker quizzed him.
Izaguirre said: "Luis is a player who has talent and it would be very good for him to make the leap from Greece to Scotland. The Scottish league is a very important league and it can help you greatly. If the move comes to fruition, Luis has to expect that it will be very close to the English Premier League.
"During my time there I saw many players from Celtic and the Scottish league go to the English Premier League. If it happens, it will be for the good of the player and for Honduran football." Palma looks set to join the Hoops on a four-year deal according to reports, and will see his salary in the Greek division multiplied by eight times. Meanwhile the Mail say Celtic will continue to target the defensive area after injuries to Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh depleted Rodgers' options.
