Marks and Spencer stores and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland have issued a statement recalling a soup.Read more:Met Eireann warn of wet and windy weekend ahead as low pressure moves inAn alert was issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland .A statement on the FSAI website reads: " Marks & Spencer is recalling the above batch of its Smooth Butternut Squash Soup due to the possible presence of small pieces of metal. Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.
"Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batch from sale and display a recall notice at the point-of-sale. Customers are advised not to consume the implicated batch."In a message to inspectors, they also added: "Please notify the FSAI of any concerns regarding the recall."Metals such as arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury are naturally occurring chemical compounds. They can be present at various levels in the environment, e.g. soil, water and atmosphere.
In the interest of protecting consumers in Ireland, the FSAI, as a precautionary measure, is advising anyone with a peanut allergy or suspected peanut allergy not to eat any products containing mustard as an ingredient. The FSAI advises affected consumers to check labelling on products prior to consumption.
