Lots of people heading home from a weekend away today - don't get caught out

We're now almost through the second bank holiday of May and it could mean that lots of people are travelling home from trips away, or even enjoying the last of their time off with family.

Planned work will take place on roads like the A56 and M65 this week. As well as some roads in Cumbria. Some of the work includes drainage work near Rawtenstall as well as safety barrier replacements on the M65.As always, drivers are being urged to plan ahead if they are travelling on any of these routes. We've put together the information from the National Highways website to help you plan ahead.

Work will take place Monday to Friday, between 8pm and 6am and will extend to 7am on Saturday morning. Clearly signed diversions will be in place whilst the work is undertaken. Whilst the carriageway is closed, essential resurfacing will occur between the junctions. Once complete, traffic will run smoother and safer along the M6.
