Magician Dynamo is delighted to have sold out more shows than U2 and One Direction in 3Arena
Magician Dynamo insists he is not the type to brag, but admitted he can’t help himself when he thinks of outdoing U2 and One Direction with sold out 3Arena shows. The entertainer who has been battling Crohn’s disease added that he is eager to make a special trip to Mayo with his wife, Kelly.
Speaking on the red carpet at Sky’s Up Next event ahead of the launch of his new Sky One series Beyond Belief, he said: “Ireland is amazing and I have to say that because my wife if half-Irish.” “I did my tours over there and the 3Arena in Dublin was a fantastic audience every night, the best I can remember. “Someone told me that U2 did three nights at that arena, One Direction did four nights, but Dynamo did six.“Ireland is a great country and very special for my family with my wife’s connections.“It is a beautiful country and if my wife is anything to go by, then everything about it is beautiful.” Dynamo, 37, whose real name is Steven Frayne, revealed he hit ‘rock bottom’ in his battle with illness in recent months. He admitted that his fight back to good health offered as a timely reminder of what he has in his life. He said: “I’d say I’m at 80 percent back to health now, but having Crohn’s disease means you are never fully recovered. You just live with it. “This is something I’ve lived with for so many years, since I was 14 and I’ve never really liked to burden other people with it. “Then my body changed and people could see how ill I was meant I had to talk about it and the support I got from my fans and everyone out there was incredible. “If me letting people know what I’m going through can help others, that’s more important. That’s a bigger legacy than any magic trick I might do. Delighted to be back on the screen, he added: “It’s great to get back to work with Sky and filming my magic all over the world has been such a relief after everything I have been through. “When you have been through an experience like this, it makes you appreciate everything you have in your life so much more.“It’s so easy to get caught up in the excitement of the success I have enjoyed, but this setback certainly made me realise that I have to enjoy every minute of what I do. “From this experience, I have invented so many new magic tricks and ideas that have gone into this new show Beyond Belief and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
