Absentee voters in Detroit will have their ballots counted, a state judgeMonday, rejecting a lawsuit from Michigan Secretary of State candidate Kristina Karamo that sought to disqualify all absentee ballots and force residents to vote in person due to concerns about the city’s election processes and voter fraud.
Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Kenny wrote the GOP candidate’s lawsuit “raised a false flag of election law violations and corruption” and the notion of throwing out all the absentee ballots was “not only unprecedented, it is intolerable.
The judge ruled throwing out all military ballots—which could have affected at least 1,000 ballots, the“The idea that the Court would single out one community in the state to be treated adversely when Plaintiffs have provided no evidence in support of their allegation simply cannot be allowed to occur,” Kenny wrote in his ruling allowing absentee ballots to be counted in Detroit.
