Tens of thousands of people are in lockdown as the suspect remains at large
Divers will be searching waters near where the vehicle of the suspect in the Maine shooting was found as the manhunt for the gunman who killed 18 people in Lewiston on Wednesday continues., 40, opened fire at a bowling alley and a bar in Lewiston, as hundreds of heavily armed police and FBI agents continue searching for the suspect in the massacre.
Lewiston, a former textile hub of 38,000 people, and neighbouring communities were largely shut down on Thursday to enable hundreds of officers to carry out their search. His sister, Courtney Hathaway, shared the news of her “big brother’s” death on Facebook, saying: “Nothing really prepares you for the sudden and shocking loss of a loved one, especially when it happens in such a tragedy.”
Police circulated photographs of a bearded man in a brown hooded sweatshirt and jeans at one of the crime scenes armed with what appeared to be a semi-automatic rifle.
