Majella O’Donnell has opened up about her own journey with her mental health. She discussed her own post-natal depression as well as dealing with depression and anxiety throughout her entire life.
Taking to social media this week she shared her plan to help others who may be struggling with their own mental health. In a video, she said: “Good afternoon, everybody. This is Majella O’Donnell, and I’ve decided that I’m going to start doing some little videos on my social media, talking about, I suppose, all things mental health.
“I’ve suffered from bad episodes of mental health, depression mainly, and anxiety, and I have learnt some sort of tricks along the way, or should I say, I’ve got some tools along the way to help me when I have periods, I suppose, of self-doubt and anxiety. “I thought that maybe sharing it on social media might be a good thing to do.
So, here it is, and I’m really, really not a professional at this, and I’m talking purely about my own experience. I’m also not very good at doing videos; this is probably the second time I’ve done a video, so forgive me for any mishaps.
”She went on to say: “I will say from the outset here that I am not allowing comments on my clips, because, like everybody else, I tend to look at the comments and what the old keyboard warriors come on and start making, you know, really nasty comments, it does tend to get you down. So I’ve made the decision that I’m not going to allow comments.
“So basically, it’s for people that might be interested in learning some tips about trying to keep your mental health on track. I hope it helps some of you, I hope it interests you, and if it doesn’t, then you can scroll on by. It’s there if you’re interested, as I said, if you’re not, it’s okay too. ”
