Plans to increase council tax in Nottingham that would see households paying at least £65 a year extra have taken a major step forward. Nottingham City Council first revealed last December that it was planning to increase council tax by 4.99%, the maximum amount allowed without holding a referendum.
The council tax plans were part of a broader range of proposals released by the authority to plug a financial gap of around £30million. Other proposals included the mothballing of two floors at Loxley House and the removal of the wheelchair hire service from the Victoria Centre.These budget plans have now been approved by a meeting of Nottingham City Council's executive board.
