The “majority” of asylum seekers coming to Ireland are entering via Northern Ireland, Integration Minister Roderic O’Gorman has stated.
Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated that this was proof the “Rwanda plan” was working and that the UK would not take asylum seekers back from Ireland. “I also understand that Minister McEntee has had an engagement with the Home Secretary Cooper, on a range of issues, including issues to do with migration. I know the Taoiseach will be meeting with the Prime Minister. I know that cooperation on these issues is going to be one of the topics .”
He also stated that large buildings have been offered to the Department to buy or lease for accommodation.
