Man, 20s, killed in early morning collision with van as gardai issue appeal

This takes to 72 the number of deaths on Irish roads this year, an increase of 16 when compared to the same period last year

Shortly after 6am on Thursday morning, gardai and emergency services personnel attended the scene of a crash between a car and a van at Moneygorbet, Castleblaney in Monaghan .

A passenger in the car, a man also aged in his 20s, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash and has also been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. Gardai have now issued an appeal for witnesses, particularly anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the crash.
