No arrests have been made but Greater Manchester Police say patrols have been stepped up in the area.
A man was raped in a ‘shocking and horrific’ attack in Bolton town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning, police have said.
The 22-year-old told officers he was approached by a man near Nelson Square who walked him to Black Mawdsley Street where the attack is said to have taken place.Police say patrols have been stepped up in the area. Detective Sergeant Dominic Beaver said: ‘This is a shocking and horrific incident and the victim is currently receiving support from specialist officers.No information has been given about the suspect.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident or anyone in the area at the time who may have seen something suspicious to come forward.Anonymous reports can also be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
