BREAKING: Man charged with rape after police tape off Costa Coffee in retail park
A 25-year-old man has been charged with rape following an incident at a Salford retail park on Sunday .
John Hawkins, of Manchester Road, Westhoughton, has been charged with one count of rape after police were called to Regents Retail Park at around 7:55am on Sunday morning. The Costa Coffee at the park was taped off for much of the day as police carried out investigations into the alleged rape.
In a statement on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police said it was believed that the victim and suspect were known to each other prior to the incident. GMP tweeted: "#CHARGED | Man charged with rape in connection with an incident in Salford on Sunday. John Hawkins, 25, of Manchester Road, Westhoughton, has been charged with one count of rape.Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 1087 of October 30 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
