Father of three Michael Sheehan is understood to have gone into anaphylactic shock after being stung several times
A 56-year-old father of three has died after suffering what is believed to be an allergic reaction after he was stung by bees when he disturbed their nest while cutting a hedge near his home.
He went indoors to rest but began to complain of feeling unwell and a short time later went into anaphylactic shock after suffering what is believed was an allergic reaction to the bee stings. They were joined by emergency medicine consultant Dr Jason Van Der Velde but the medical team were unable to revive Mr Sheehan and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí say they are treating Mr Sheehan’s death as “a terribly sad and tragic incident” and that they will prepare a file on his death for an inquest at the west Cork Coroner’s Court.
