Gardai received reports of an altercation in Westport in the early hours of Saturday morning and an arrest has been made
A man aged in his 60s is in critical condition in hospital following an incident in Co Mayo in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The injured man was rushed to Mayo University Hospital, where his condition is currently described as critical.A man aged in his 20s was arrested at the scene and he is now detained at a Garda station in the north-western region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Gardai have now issued an appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the altercation to make contact with investigators at Westport Garda Station.
"Any pedestrians or road users who were in the vicinity of High Street in Westport between 1.00am and 2.00am this morning, Saturday 9th September 2023 and who may have camera footage is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
