A man, 60s, is in a serious condition in hospital after he was struck by a 'getaway vehicle' in Cork on Friday.
The man was out walking in the Churchfield Road area when he was struck by the vehicle at approximately 6.10pm. There were reports that a number of gunshots were heard during the Shanakiel incident but gardai said this had not been verified. A man, 20s, was later arrested and a firearm seized. The man remains detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in the Southern Region.
