Kevin Murphy, 34, has consented to stay in prison after being charged with assaulting two off-duty Gardaí in Dublin.

A man accused of attacking an off-duty Garda in Dublin 's Temple Bar during an incident which left the officer in critical condition, has consented to stay in custody. 34-year-old Kevin Murphy, with an address at North Frederick Street, Dublin 1, was remanded to prison last week. Last week, Mr Murphy was charged with assault causing harm to two men, both off-duty Garda í, at Eustace Street, Dublin 2, in the early hours of December 14th.

The accused has yet to indicate a plea and did not move a bail application at his first hearing.Mr Murphy's solicitor said, he'is not applying for bail, and there is consent for a straight remand for four weeks'.The Judge adjourned the case with the accused, who has been granted legal aid, to remain on prison remand.The Judge noted Gardaí are seeking directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions. Mr Murphy is one of two men before the courts in connection with the assault in the early hours of December 14th
