A man accused of making a false bomb threat to Justice Minister Helen McEntee’s home has taken to the stand in his trial, describing the allegation against him as “ludicrous.”

It is alleged that Michael Murray, of Seafield Road, Killiney, Dublin, made the call from his prison cell three years ago – which he denies. On the 7th of March 2021, a volunteer with the Samaritans took a call from a man claiming to be a member of the Irish National Liberation Army .She told the jury he warned her that bombs had been planted at the home of the Justice Minister. The call was traced back to Michael Murray’s cell at Midlands Prison.

He admitted being a member of the INLA and making a call to the Samaritans that night but said it had nothing to do with the Justice Minister. He said his voice doesn’t match that of the caller who made the bomb threat and described the case against him as ‘ludicrous’ and ‘ridiculous’.
