A father of three accused of kneeling on a man’s throat for about 40 seconds during a robbery in Dublin Temple Bar has been refused bail.

It was alleged that the complainant had just stepped out of a McDonald’s restaurant at around 11.30 pm when a woman approached him “looking for a smoke” before he was knocked to the ground. Mr Murray sought bail to look after his family and assist his partner who was unwell with their two children, and he said he had lost two family members in recent years.
