Dallas police responded to the first shooting about 5:30 p.m. Thursday outside a Family Dollar in the 1900 block of East Ledbetter Drive, near South Lancaster Road. They found 46-year-old Tenery Walker in the back of the store with a gunshot wound. The employee told Roberts to wait while they went and got Walker, so he walked outside and stood by the entrance doors, according to the affidavit. Then, as soon as Walker stepped outside, Roberts shot him in the abdomen with a handgun and left the location, the affidavit said.Employees later told police Roberts was shoplifting from the store the previous day before Walker confronted him and made him leave, the affidavit said.
The same day, Lancaster police contacted Dallas police and said they had surveillance footage of a fatal shooting at a QuikTrip gas station in their jurisdiction and believed the man in the video was the same suspect Dallas police were looking for, according to the affidavit.
