Police in Northern Ireland have arrested a male suspect on suspicion of murder and attempted murder following the discovery of a man's body at a property in Dungannon. A woman was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries, while a child remains in critical condition. Authorities have stated there is no ongoing risk to the public.

An arrest has been made and police have stated that they are not seeking anyone else in connection with a serious incident that took place on Saturday morning in Dungannon, County Tyrone.

A male suspect was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after the body of a man was discovered inside a house in the Lisnahull Road area at approximately 11am. Investigating officers subsequently confirmed that a woman was also present in the home at the time of the incident. She was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening and was later released after receiving medical attention.

On Sunday, Detective Chief Inspector Robinson provided an update on the situation, confirming that the man arrested at the scene on Saturday remained in custody. A seriously injured child was reported to be in critical condition at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed that it had received an emergency call shortly after 11am on Saturday and that a patient had been transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police noted that the cause of the man's death had not yet been formally established and that postmortem examinations would be carried out in due course. Detective Chief Inspector Robinson urged members of the public to avoid speculation until further updates could be provided, emphasising that there was no ongoing risk to the community. Police initially sealed off the house and urged local residents to avoid the area while a forensic examination was conducted.

Councillor Deirdre Varsani, who serves as chairwoman of Mid Ulster District Council, responded to the tragedy on Saturday, expressing the hope that such incidents would prompt wider societal reflection. She stressed the importance of people speaking up and addressing serious incidents that occur within the home, noting that such events underscore the need for collective efforts to support vulnerable individuals and families across Northern Ireland
