Streets in Port Elphinstone, Aberdeenshire, were blockaded for several hours while police engaged in what is understood to have been a stand-off.

Police have arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with an alleged weapons incident on the streets of a quiet village. Officers, including specialist armed response units, were called to an address in Port Elphinstone, immediately south of Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, shortly before 3pm on Wednesday, January 25.
