Detective believed Jordan Murray sourced weapon for ‘revenge’ after being assaulted
A man who was caught carrying a handgun with the serial number filed off has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Murray of Neilstown Park, Clondalkin, Dublin, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition at Neilstown Road, Clondalkin on July 31st, 2020. His nine previous convictions are for public order offences and theft. Gardaí also discovered a rucksack on the floor of the taxi which contained a Glock 9mm handgun and 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition. The gun was found to be in good working condition and the serial number had been filed off.
The detective agreed with Maurice Coffey SC, defending, that his client had had difficulties in the past with both cannabis and cocaine. He agreed that Murray was travelling to the address he was residing in at the time when he was stopped by gardaí.
