A 27-year-old man has been charged
A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after an elderly woman was assaulted in Burnley.
The woman who was in her 70s suffered head and facial injuries after being knocked to the ground on Market Street. Joshua Simmons, 27, of Low Bank, Burnley, has been charged with section 18 causing grievous bodily harm with intent and a racially aggravated public order offence.A statement from Burnley and Padiham Police on "Yesterday you will remember that we made a witness appeal after an elderly woman was assaulted and suffered serious injuries during an incident in Burnley.
"The victim, in her 70s, suffered head and facial injuries after being knocked to the ground on Market Street. "To update you, following consultations with the Crown Prosecution Service, we have charged Joshua Simmons, 27, of Low Bank, Burnley, with section 18 causing grievous bodily harm with intent and a racially aggravated public order offence."The investigating team of officers would like to thank the public’s response and help with this case."
