A man in his 30s, identified as Stephen Holmes, died in hospital days after being seriously assaulted in his home in Strabane, Northern Ireland. Police have launched a murder investigation. A 31-year-old man had already appeared in court in connection with the assault, but charges will now be reviewed.
The PSNI have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in hospital days after an assault in his home. On Monday, February 3, at around 3:15am, officers received a report that a man, aged in his 30s, was seriously assaulted in the Beechmount Village area of Strabane.
Stephen Holmes, aged 31, from the Strabane area in Tyrone, was rushed to hospital to be treated for his injuries, fighting for his life in critical condition for a number of days. On Saturday, Mr Holmes sadly passed away as a result of his injuries, with detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team now launching a murder investigation. Detective Inspector Griffin said: “Police received a report at approximately 3.15am on Monday, 3 February that a man, aged in his 30s, was seriously assaulted in the Beechmount Village area of Strabane. “The victim has been named as 31-year-old Stephen Holmes from the Strabane area.
