Tavish Munraj crashed into a parked car before going the wrong way down a one-way street
A man caught driving erratically in the busy city centre at night has been banned. And Nottinghamshire Police say the length of his ban 'should act as a warning.'
Police were called after a blue Audi A5 reportedly collided with a parked car before going the wrong way down a one-way street in the Hockley area of Nottingham. Officers from the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team caught up with the vehicle minutes later in Maid Marion Way. He was asked to take a breath test but he refused – and so was arrested. Tavish Munraj, of Lemmas Gardens, The Meadows, was taken into custody where he again refused to take a breath test. He was therefore charged with failing to provide specimen for analysis following his arrest, which took place shortly after 3am on 23 July. The 29-year-old pleaded guilty at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 20 October and was disqualified from driving for 30 months.
PC Tom Dodge, of the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The substantial length of the driving ban in this case should act as a warning to others. Munraj was requested to provide a sample following reports of his erratic driving on a busy night in the city centre. He failed to do so when requested both at the roadside and in custody.
“As this sentence proves, the courts take failing to provide as seriously as providing a sample above the limit. Careful drivers will hopefully be reassured that Munraj is now off the roads for a significant amount of time.”
