Man slain in Oakland’s Uptown district where he had been celebrating his birthday is identified.

OAKLAND — A man fatally shot Wednesday morning in the Uptown district where he had been celebrating his 34th birthday was identified by police Thursday as Tadao Henning, of Oakland.

Police are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting, which also left two women wounded. No arrests have been made.He and the two women, a 24-year-old from Tracy and a 27-year-old from San Leandro, were walking to his vehicle shortly before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when there was a confrontation with some other people in the 400 block of 19th Street between Broadway and Telegraph. That led to gunfire that left Henning dead and the women wounded.

It was not immediately known if the two women, who were initially listed in stable condition, were still hospitalized Thursday. Some buildings and at least one parked vehicle in the area were also hit by the gunfire, but no one else was reported injured.
