A fatal road traffic collision occurred in Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick, on Sunday, January 12th, 2025, involving a car and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a male in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 70s died after being struck by a car in Limerick this evening. The incident happened on New Street in Abbeyfeale shortly before 9pm. A vehicle hit the man as he was walking. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident and the scene is currently being preserved pending a technical investigation by forensic investigators. Local diversions are in place.
The local coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place at University Hospital Limerick. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to make contact with investigators
