The scene of the shooting, in a laneway next to Our Lady Immaculate National School in Darndale, has been sealed off and the Garda has deployed all the resources of a murder investigation to the inquiry.
Gardaí in Coolock Garda station are carrying out the investigation into the killing of the man, who was believed to be local and in his early 20s. The shooting follows the murder of a 22-year-old Dublin man whose body was found near Walshetown in north Co Dublin late on Tuesday night. In a statement on Wednesday evening, gardaí said they were appealing for witnesses to the fatal shooting incident.
“ A man in his 20s was shot a number of times and was later pronounced dead at the scene,” a garda spokesman said.“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area shortly before 4pm to contact Gardaí in Coolock Garda Station on 01 666 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station,” the spokesman said
