Katie Marnell, from Knocknacarra, lost the sight in her left eye after being struck in the face while waiting at a bus stop with friends.
"These past two years have been devastating," she said."It's a challenge every day to get up and just get through the day. It's been very difficult for me." "I'm just hoping that this will really highlight the devastating and life changing effects of illegal fireworks and there needs to more campaigning on the dangers around them," she said.
The judge said that the 23-year-old man had no previous convictions. He had addressed issues around alcohol and had taken responsibility for his actions.
