Anchorage police responding to a shots-fired call late last night off Fireweed Lane found a man's body; APD asks people to avoid the area this morning as homicide officers investigate.

Anchorage police are investigating a homicide in Midtown late Wednesday evening.

According to an APD statement, police received a report of shots fired at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday from the 2300 block of Eureka Street, off Fireweed Lane near C Street. Officers found a dead man, with “trauma to the upper body.”Police didn’t initially release a suspect description, and asked people to avoid the area Thursday morning as officers investigate.

Anyone with information on the death or surveillance video from the area is asked to call police at 311.
