A man expresses his grief at the funeral of his wife and two young daughters who were killed in a car crash. He hopes that they are at peace and asks others to remember them as happy and full of life.
The man whose wife and two young daughters were killed in a crash last week has told their funeral that it’s hard to put into words how it feels to lose your whole family “in one go”.
Una Bowden, 47, and her daughters Ciara, 14, and Saoirse, 10, were killed when their car collided with an articulated lorry on the N17 outside Claremorris, Co Mayo, on March 26. “The irony of this hurts,” he added. “As always, the house was for the girls, to provide them a base in such a wonderful environment and community that we found in Moycullen, and to provide them with a base for their future lives.”
Fr Kelly recalled how Una had won her fight with breast cancer in 2018, and said “one would have hoped for a clear passage through life for Una, but that is not the way things go”. “Una, the serial degree-getter knew what was precious in life and her family of birth and her own family were her pearls of great price,” said the priest.He said Ciara had just turned 14 on March 5, and described her as “the ever-watchful and caring big sister” who was crazy about dogs – especially her Scottish terriers, Daisy and Boo.
